Critical Incident Debriefing
Critical incidents are events or situations that a person experiences or witnesses that impacts their mental, emotional, cognitive, and/or spiritual health. Examples of these experiences might be witnessing a workplace accident, a natural disaster, witnessing an act of violence, or the unexpected loss of a friend or colleague due to traumatic circumstances. The person may struggle to cope with the experience which may lead them to experience difficulties with sleep, moods, heightened feelings of anxiety and socializing which may impact their overall wellbeing and day to day functioning including workplace performance. The experience is traumatic and can have a lasting impact on all involved.

A Critical Incident Debriefing session is an effective way to support people who have experienced a critical incident as it offers an opportunity to process the experience in a safe and non-judgemental space and to determine if ongoing counseling support would be helpful.
