Dialectical Behavior Therapy
(DBT)

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a form of talk therapy that is helpful in supporting people to learn ways to manage intense emotions, foster healthy relationships, and change behaviors. It teaches many different skills in the areas of distress tolerance, emotional regulation, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness. DBT was initially used to treat people diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and who were suicidal however, it is now being used to treat many different concerns including substance use and other addictive behaviors, eating disorders, depression, and PTSD.
