What is psychotherapy?

​Psychotherapy is a collaborative treatment process that involves talking to a trained mental health professional. It aims to help individuals understand and manage their thoughts,, and behaviors in a supportive environment. Through various therapeutic techniques, psychotherapy can assist in addressing mental health issues, improving emotional well-being, fostering personal growth. Ultimately, it seeks to empower individuals lead healthier and fulfilling lives.

How will I know that you are a good fit to support me?
The decision to begin psychotherapy with a qualified therapist is an important one and one that
requires consideration of different factors such as, the presenting concerns, knowledge of
evidence-based practices that are considered effective at addressing the concern(s), knowing if
the therapist is experienced and trained to address the concern and/or trained in the therapeutic
modality that can help you deal with the concern. Along with this, feeling comfortable with the
therapist is also an important factor in helping you to reach your goals. Each person and
therapist is different. Aside from knowledge of psychotherapy, what we bring to our sessions is
a culmination of our lived experiences which can help us connect at a more personal level. To
determine if we are a good fit, we offer a free 15 minute phone consultation. This will allow us to
discuss questions and concerns that can help you decide if we are a good fit.

What types of concerns can be addressed in therapy?


In our practices, we support individuals dealing with life / career transitions, grief and loss,
trauma, personal relationships concerns, and substance use.


How many sessions will I need?
Although there are no prescribed number of sessions, each person’s experience of therapy will
be different and may require varying numbers of sessions.


What is the cost for services?
I offer a 15 minute phone consultation free of charge.
Individual therapy sessions are 50 minutes and cost $175.
The single session Critical Incident Debrief is a 90 minute session and is $190.

Are your services covered by insurance?
Many insurance / benefits providers provide coverage for counselling and psychotherapy
services. You will need to check with your service provider to determine if they will provide
coverage for services offered by a psychotherapist.
